Answers and qualifies every call
The AI greets the caller by your business name, asks the qualifying questions you set (service, location, urgency, budget) and adapts to the answers. It never puts anyone on hold.
AI answering service · HighLevel Voice AI
An AI answering service answers your business line with a natural voice, asks the questions you would ask, books the appointment in your calendar and texts the caller a recap. HighLevel's Voice AI does this on the Unlimited plan for $97 per month per location, on top of a HighLevel subscription, with no per-minute agent fees and no hold queue.

Top 50 Agentic AI Products, G2 Best SoftwareWhat it does
A human answering service reads a script and takes a message. HighLevel's AI Employee does the script, then keeps going: it books, follows up and hands the conversation to your CRM.

The AI greets the caller by your business name, asks the qualifying questions you set (service, location, urgency, budget) and adapts to the answers. It never puts anyone on hold.

Availability comes from your HighLevel calendar. The AI proposes real slots, confirms the booking and sends the confirmation by text. Reminders and no-show follow-ups run from the same calendar.

Set rules for when a call must reach a human: the AI warm-transfers it. Otherwise it takes a message, logs the call in the contact record and texts you the summary. Reviews AI can later answer the Google review that call turns into.
How it works
Four moments, from the ring to your calendar. Everything is logged in the contact's timeline inside HighLevel.
Forward your existing business line to a HighLevel number, or publish the HighLevel number directly. The AI can answer every call, only after-hours calls, or only when nobody picks up within a set number of rings.
You write the goal ("book an estimate", "collect the case details") and the questions. The AI speaks naturally, handles interruptions and answers questions from the knowledge you gave it: hours, services, prices, service area.
Booking uses your real availability. A transfer rule ("existing customer with an emergency") sends the call to a phone of your choice. Anything else becomes a message and a task.
The caller receives a confirmation. You receive the summary, the recording and the transcript in the contact record. Conversation AI can carry on by SMS if the caller replies.

What it replaces
The comparison that matters is not AI versus human. It is the AI versus the voicemail, the overflow service or the receptionist hours you fund today.

Human answering services price by minute or by call and vary widely by provider; check your own invoices. HighLevel bills call minutes at carrier rates on top of the plan; a low-volume line costs a few dollars a month in telephony.
Voice AI helped me replace our previous answering service and saved $1,200 per month. The quality is better and it never misses a call.
Pricing
Three ways to pay for the AI. Only one of them makes sense for an answering service, because a phone line that stops answering when a cap is reached is not an answering service.
$0monthly AI fee, each action billed on use
No AI subscription. Every call minute, message or generation is billed as it happens.
Best for: a quick test of one feature at very low volume.
Start a trial anyway$50per month, per location
A monthly allowance across the AI tools. Once the cap is reached, the AI stops until next month or you upgrade.
Best for: light, predictable usage where a cap is acceptable.
Start a trial anyway$97per month, per location
The AI answers every call and every message, all month, subject to fair use. This is the plan the whole page is about.
Best for: any business that wants the phone and the inbox covered without watching a meter.
Start the 14-day trialAI Employee is an add-on to a HighLevel plan, not a standalone product. A single business takes the Starter plan at $97 per month and adds AI Employee Unlimited at $97: $194 per month in total, plus call and text usage billed by the carrier rates inside HighLevel. In exchange you get the CRM, calendar, pipeline, funnels and automations the AI plugs into.
The 14-day plan
The trial gives you the full platform for 14 days. Use it to route real calls to the AI and judge it on your own callers, not on a demo.
Create the account, buy a HighLevel number (a few dollars), forward your business line after hours, write the greeting, the qualifying questions and the transfer rule, and paste your services, prices and hours into the knowledge base. Book the included onboarding session for this part.
Keep the AI on evenings and weekends only. Listen to every recording, read every transcript, fix the script where the AI hesitated. Add a test call from a friend with a difficult question.
Count the calls the AI answered that would have gone to voicemail, the appointments it booked and the messages it took. Compare with what you pay for an answering service or with the revenue of one booked job. Keep it, or cancel from the account settings before day 14.

FAQ
HighLevel's Voice AI uses natural, low-latency voices and handles interruptions. Callers hear a pause of a second or two while it thinks, comparable to a person checking a screen. Run a test call during the trial and judge it with your own ears before you route customers to it.
Yes. You define transfer rules (for example an existing customer with an emergency, or anyone who asks for a person) and the phone number to reach. Outside those rules the AI takes a message and texts you the summary.
No. Keep your published number and forward it to the HighLevel number, either always, after hours only, or when unanswered. You can also use the HighLevel number directly for a new campaign or location.
The HighLevel Starter plan at $97 per month plus AI Employee Unlimited at $97 per month per location: $194 in total, plus call minutes and texts billed at carrier rates inside HighLevel. The Growth plan at $50 has monthly caps and Pay-Per-Use bills each action, which does not suit a line that must always answer.
You get the full HighLevel platform for 14 days, with a one-hour onboarding session offered to new trials on the AI page. Set up the number and the script in the first days, route after-hours calls to the AI, then decide on your own recordings. Cancel from the account settings before the end of the trial if it is not for you.
Yes. Conversation AI, included in the same Unlimited plan, replies across SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and web chat and can book appointments in the conversation. The phone and the inbox share the same calendar and the same contact records.
HighLevel publishes GDPR support tools, SOC 2 Type II infrastructure providers, HIPAA support packages and hosting on Google Cloud and AWS. Recordings and transcripts live in your account; you decide who in your team can access them.
Fourteen days, the full platform, your real callers. If it books one job you would have missed, it has paid for the month.
